Frederick Alliance for Youth
Major Projects and Programs

The Frederick Alliance for Youth is a major Ausherman Family Trust initiative to address the needs of children and young teens in the western area of the City of Frederick.  Issues that have been identified as affecting the children and families of that area are:

• Unsupervised youth
• Difficulties experienced by non-English speaking families
• Lack of transportation
• An increase in gang activity
• Parents who need education and basic skills
• Lack of child care for pre-school aged children and difficult youth

The targeted outcomes for the Alliance are increased educational advancement, both in school class work and technology competency, and to increase each youth’s developmental assets.  Parental involvement and positive relationships with adults will be a by-product of the supervised programs underway at the Hillcrest Community Center.
